The story
Sixteen years getting the prep right
I'm Jack, and I own and run Visual Effect Painting & Decorating. I started the business here in Westminster in 2013, and I've been painting across Perth for 16 years. Every quote, every brush stroke and every final touch-up is mine. When you hire Visual Effect, you get me, not a rotating crew of subcontractors.
Most painters skip the preparation, because it is the slow, unglamorous part nobody sees once the paint is on. I do the opposite. Washing down, sanding, filling, patching gyprock and getting the right primers on first is what makes a finish last, so that is where the time goes. Then two coats of premium Dulux, cut in by hand for clean lines.
That approach is why insurance builders, strata managers and quality-conscious homeowners across the northern suburbs keep calling me back. I keep it straightforward. Every job is quoted fixed-price and in writing, usually within 48 hours, with a free colour consultation included. I turn up when I say I will, work around you and other trades, tidy up at the end of every day, and walk the finished job with you before you sign off. Fully insured, certificates on request.

A full interior repaint of a 3 to 4 bedroom Perth home usually runs 10 to 12 days; a basic repaint is quicker, and exterior work depends on access and surface condition. We confirm a start date and lock the timeline at quote stage, and we don't drift from it without telling you well ahead of time.
Yes. For most repaints we work around you, room by room, and tidy up at the end of every day. Whole-house jobs are easier on everyone if rooms are cleared ahead of us, and we'll talk through what to expect at quote stage so you can plan around it.
Premium Dulux finishes as standard: Wash & Wear for interior walls and Weathershield for exteriors, with the right primers and undercoats for each surface. Every product is itemised on your quote, so there's no guessing about what's going on your walls. If you've got a brand or product preference, tell Jack and he'll work to it.
We're based in Westminster and cover the greater Perth metro: the inner northern suburbs (Stirling, Balcatta, Yokine, Karrinyup), the western beaches (Scarborough, Trigg, Hillarys), the northern corridor (Joondalup, Duncraig, Greenwood) and across to the river suburbs (Subiaco, Mount Hawthorn, Nedlands).
